" The band played to a small, invited audience at El Rey Theater in Los Angeles, California, USA, and performed a six song set featuring two new songs along with a series of cover versions.

The set list was as follows:

1 'Bodies' (Sex Pistols cover)
2 'Set Me Free' (new song)
3 'Sex Type Thing' (Stone Temple Pilots cover)
4 'It's So Easy' (GN'R cover)
5 'Slither' (new song)
6 'Negative Creep' (Nirvana cover)

Band manager David Codikow said he's very optimistic that Scott Weiland won't return to jail after his recent arrest for drug possession. "Like everybody else, they've all had their problems in the past. They've all worked through it, there's a real support group, and you never give up."

"... They don't have a record deal. They don't have a music publishing deal. But they are on their way to having a hit single with "Set Me Free" off "The Hulk" soundtrack. Collectively, they've sold 70 million albums worldwide...

"(Weiland) is just awesome," Slash said. "We've been writing new songs. He's a great singer, and he's a great arranger. The music just sounds unique... We just fit together as a band. There's not this weird subconscious pressure going on that something's not right"...

" Velvet Revolver ... is off to a fast start at radio with first single "Set Me Free."

The tune from the soundtrack to the upcoming movie "The Hulk" is already topping phone requests at modern rock radio outlets WBCN Boston, XTRA San Diego, and KROQ Los Angeles. The soundtrack is due in stores Tuesday via Decca/UMG.
The band, managed by Immortal Entertainment's Dana Millman-Dufine and David Codikow, has recorded a number of songs for its album debut, but it has yet to ink a label deal.

Weiland also has outstanding legal issues to attend to, following a recent arrest for drug possession. He is due back in court July 11.

The long-term status of Stone Temple Pilots is unknown. Group members Robert and Dean DeLeo produced Alien Ant Farm's upcoming album, "truANT," due Aug. 19 from DreamWorks".

Weiland says greatest hits set due this year

" The Stone Temple Pilots...recently recorded a new song, "All in the Suit That You Wear," for an upcoming greatest-hits collection.

"It rocks," says frontman Scott Weiland, who insists the band's hiatus has been overplayed in the press. "STP's never broken up . . . we just have made a decision to take time apart and do different things. The DeLeo brothers [Dean and Robert] are doing some producing right now, and Eric [Kretz] just built a studio. We worked for ten years, we made five records, we sold 25 million records around the world, and we felt like we needed a break."

Although Weiland is currently singing in Velvet Revolver ..., he hasn't dismissed the possibility of another STP full-length down the road. "There's always hope," he says. "There's always hope."

The greatest hits set, so far without a confirmed title or release date...".

" In Los Angeles on Monday (June 2) ... Scott Weiland pleaded innocent to charges of drug possession in connection with a May 17 incident. Weiland was arrested last month in Burbank, California when police stopped the car, driven by 29-year-old Jennifer Lynn Sires, for driving without the headlights turned on. During the routine stop, police spotted drug paraphernalia and arrested Weiland and Sires. Weiland was released after posting $10,000 dollars bail.

Court officials told Reuters that the 35-year-old Weiland will enter a rehabilitation program to try and curb his heroin and cocaine habits--something he did involuntarily in 1999 when he was sentenced to an in-prison rehab facility. The beleaguered singer is set to appear back in court on July 11 to set a preliminary hearing date".

"... Scott Weiland was arrested in Burbank, California on Saturday (May 17) for possession of narcotics. Weiland has posted $10,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear at the Burbank Courthouse to be arraigned on June 2.

Burbank Police Department Lieutenant John Dilibert said the arrest stemmed from a routine traffic stop. "On May 17 at about 11:45 in the evening, two Burbank officers conducted a traffic stop on a car that was stopped on the 100th block of Elm Court in the city of Burbank," Lieutenant Dilibert said. "As a result of that traffic stop, they detained two occupants--one of them being Mr. Scott Weiland, who was arrested for possession of an illegal narcotic. His bail was posted at $10,000, and he's due to be arraigned in the Burbank court June 2."

Weiland, who was taken to the police station because he was driving without his headlights on, was released at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday (May 18)...."
