Happy New Year! I wish a lot of good things to us all...
I donīt have nothing new to say about STP, however I've two little things to say:
- Lisbon receibes the visit of Ozzfest today! Ozzy cannot be present, so Tool (one of my favorite bands) can play a little longer. Unfortunately, I cannot be there, cause I've to study for my exams : (
- The Portuguese soccer team will play tomorow against USA. It'll be a good show, so don't miss it.
The self titled debut album of Home Town Hero, the band that support STP's concerts, arrives today in stores. I've just receibed a 3 track promo single, offered by their management team, and their sound is really nice "No sampling, no DJ's, just four guys playing rock".
P.S.- When will STP have a management team like this? Alive and really promoting the band.
The tour ends today on Memphis, TN. Let's see if the band goes direct to the studio!
Not much news from the STPcamp, as they're still on tour. However, any of you wanting to hear some mp3's from the Spring tour can log on Below Empty.
STP played last night at Ithaca, NY and the band dedicated the song Big Empty to Layne Staley. As we can read at the LAUNCH site: "A body believed to be Alice In Chains singer Layne Staley was found at his home Friday (April 19), according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The body appeared to be dead for several days, the Seattle medical examiner's office told the paper. The cause of death was not known at press time".
There are some new pics of this spring tour at the official site.
LAUNCH also announces that Weiland "... was spotted on the streets of New York on Wednesday (April 17) in his pajamas, asking where he could find women's panties, reports the New York Post. It turns out that Weiland wasn't planning on trouble this time around. He was just trying to find underwear for his wife, model Mary Forsberg, because their luggage had been lost on an airline".
The new spring tour starts today at Austin, Texas. STP will play at the Rock For the Roses Benefit with other bands.
Weiland left an audio message on the official site. At the msg he said that they are rehearsing to incorporate new songs into the lineup of the concerts of the new spring tour.
Home Town Hero is the band that will support STP at the several club shows of the upcoming tour.
Spiderman soundtrack (Sony) features many artists including STP. You can
preorder de album at Artist Direct. If you want more info about the
movie you can go to the Spiderman official site (take a few minutes loading) or to Sony Online Entertainment.
Guy's site Stmothafukinp has a new look and format. I hope he continues his good job at this STP site.
Scott Weiland
answers fans questions at .com. This is little teaser of what you can read
at the official site:
Q: I
would like to know what your take is on all of the mp3 sharing
going on.
Scott: I think it's an excellent way for people to get ahold of
rare music.
Q: My
question to you is how did you come up with all of those crazy
moves you do on stage??
Scott: Borrow and
steal! James Brown, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Middle eastern belly
dancing-Tai-Chi meets urban punk rock soul brother boogie.
Q: I
have always wondered what song for you holds the most meaning to
you. Out of everything we as fans have heard what is the song
that you find most personal to you. And while I'm on the subject
what is your best album you ever put together in your opinion?
Scott: I would have to
say that the most painfully honest song that I've ever written
was either "Adhesive" or "The Date."
Out best album was either Purple or Shangri-La.
Metal Hammer announces the US spring tour, the new album and that "... Weiland is continuing work on a new record that could possibly be a follow-up to 1998's 'Twelve Bar Blues'...".
Billboard reports that Wonderful will not be the 1st single of Elektra's upcoming "Family Values Tour 2001" live album, due May 7: "Although the group's "Wonderful" was originally scheduled to be the set's first single, Elektra has opted to send a sampler featuring various album tracks to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration".
Anyway, the site Below Empty has the mp3 of this music!

Weiland
told LAUNCH that the band will
be back to the studio during the summer. He said that STP actually turned down the OzzFest in favor of hitting the
studio: "I'm hinting around that we're
looking towards making another record."
But...
Why'll they make a new record if they didn't promote very well
this one? If my memory is correct, the concerts were just like
STP's greatest hits! Maybe they'll play Shangri-La on this Spring
tour. I really don't care, cause'll adore to have a new STP album
for Xmas.
Launch also annouces that Shangri-La Dee Da went gold as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 500.000 copies.
Scott talked
to LAUNCH and told how he and his wife are preparing
the arrival of the new little girl.
At the interview we can
see how proud Weiland is about being a good father: " My God, how did this ever happen?- I'm
actually a parent and a pretty good one."
Good news are coming from several US festival sites: STP is scheduled to play at many concerts. The official site hasn't confirmed any date, but I think that we can trust!
This is the list of possible concerts:
- 9 th annual Music Midtown Festival in Atlanta, GA (05-04)
They have a huge lineup with 120 bands and 11 stages. Bands like
Bush, Counting Crowes, Garbage, Hoobastank, Incubus, No Doubt,
Puddle of Mudd... will play at the same stage as STP: The 99 X
Stage.
- Norfolk, VA (04-16) was
announced by Ticketmaster
- Cityfest Live in Charlotte, NC (04-27)
- Lance Armstrong Foundation's Rock for the Roses in Austin, TX (04-12)
Scott told LAUNCH how "wonderful" was the
colaboration with Chester Bennington (Linkin Park vocalist) at
the FVT2001:
"Chester was coming out
on stage with us pretty much from the onset of the tour
performing ''Dead And Bloated'' with me. He's younger than I am
by a few years, and STP is sort of the band he grew up with,
along with a couple of others. Before I even met him I read a lot
in the press, in magazines and such, as far as what his feelings
were towards STP and the kind of effect and influence it has had
on him," Weiland said. "So, we were pretty honored to
hear that and to meet him. And when he was interested in coming
up on stage we thought it would be kind of fun."
By the way, Wonderful goes to US radio on March 20.
Request it for you and for all the european fans!
The english version of STP_PT has a new look. I hope you like this lighter image! I've also added a new page with some pics of Scott's tattoos (asked by a brasilian fan- Good sugestion Valdomiro!).
We can read at Billboard that Elektra has set a May 7 release date
for the
Family
Values Tour 2001 live
album.
"STP's Wonderful will serve as the first single and will be
sent next week to U.S. radio outlets for airplay consideration. A
video treatment is being developed and may include live footage
from the tour".
Here is
the tracklist for "Family Values Tour 2001":
STP, "Vasoline"
Linkin Park, "Runaway"
Staind, "Fade"
STP, "Wonderful"
Static-X, "Push It"
Staind, "It's Been Awhile"
STP, "Wicked Garden"
Static-X, "Cold"
Aaron Lewis, "Black" (Pearl Jam cover)
STP with Aaron Lewis, "Creep"
Deadsy, "Tom Sawyer" (Rush cover)
Linkin Park with Aaron Lewis, "One Step Closer"
The official site reports that STP are planning a new tour beginning in April. I think that it'll be just a US tour!
98 rock shows that STP will be playing at Livestock 12 (April 26- 28). The festival also includes names like: James Cantrell, Kid Rock, Puddle of mudd, Rob Zombie, Sevendust, Adema, Soil, Gravity Kills, Fu Manchu, Course of Nature, Lost Prophets, Apex Theory, Sinastar, Mesh, Kevin Martin (of Candlebox), Battery (Metallica T.B.)... The site says that more big names will be added!
Billboard has noticed that STP have joined the lineup of the inaugural Beyond 2002 Super Festival (April 12-14). These big Miami's fest feature three days of music and intensive sports competitions. Three-day passes for $135 and individual day tickets for $65.

Anyone saw STP at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards? There are no pics of them at the grammy's official site !
There's a rummor that STP will be touring next summer with Foo Fighters, but nothing official. I like very much Dave's band, so... let's wait just a few more days to see what happens. P.S.--> At the official Fighter's page there are just two dates for US concerts (in May).
The portuguese version of STP_PT has a new look and a new address: stppt.tripod.com! In the next month I'll try to make a change to the english version of this site.
Weiland's family is expecting a new baby! The second child should born in late July. All the best to them!
Dean has played with the Black Crowes at their concert at Malibu Inn. It's ones of the first sign from the bend this year, cause they have been so quiet.
The third mp3 that I've chosen to present you from "Paredes de Coura Festival" is Vasoline (until February 12). If you don't remember the lyric, read it now!
If you wanna see three new pics taken by a spanish fan at the "Paredes de Coura Festival" click here. ! Gracias Oscar (y Sabela) !
I've just added a new mp3 of STP at "Paredes de Coura Festival" and the chosen song was Crackerman (until January 26).
Weiland has left an audio message for the fans at the official site, where he says that he's very disappointed with the commercial success of Shangri-La: "The fact is Shangri-La broke my heart, I put everything into that album, believing if I could get real and honest but it was virtually ignored and I was wrong". Read the rest at LAUNCH!
The official site has some new goodies for the fans: New Eve's photos of the band, an audio message from Scott (wishing a happy New Year to the real fans)... Go there!
